Do you remember sitting on the bottom of the pool when you were a kid? You would feel so free in the slow-motion underwater world, looking up at the sky and the world beyond the pool edge. It was a feeling of complete serenity and isolation, and there was such peace in that.
That is the kind of emotion I would love to inspire with an underwater event.
There are some spectacular underwater event photos, and my fave is this photo shoot on the Ruffled blog which you can see here.
Here’s some more of my faves….
Because unfortunately we need to breathe, the underwater experience needs to be created through decor, furnishings and especially lighting. The glamourous lounges, dramatic blue and green lighting, suspended jellyfish and glass illuminated bubbles are sublime. Some of the styling images below come from world renown event designers such as Preston Bailey and Colin Cowie. One day we will produce work as glorious as this!
The closest you could get to actually dining underwater is at the InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort in China. The resort’s restaurant AQUA (pictured first) is located inside an indoor aquarium. Guests can reserve the restaurant for wedding ceremonies or private romantic dinners. Can. You. Cope.
At the Florida Aquarium, you can dine at the Coral Reef Room, surrounded by fish.
