Place estate agents was established in 2002 with a clear vision: to be Brisbane’s best residential estate agency. Today, Place dominate the Brisbane marker with their focus solely dedicated to our city.
By being local experts their agents are handpicked, and have the advantage of years of experience and inside knowledge.
Their purpose is to help people find their happy place, and they do this through multimillion-dollar riverfront homes, to one bedroom apartments and also, a yearly PLACE conference that is THE place to be for this innovative team of agents.
We have been lucky enough to bring their events to life for the last four years, with themed event styling in a variety of event venues across the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
This year’s event theme was FIRED UP and we had so much fun designing a room that was striking and engaging.
The event was held at Brisbane’s latest event venue and entertainment destination, Howard Smith Wharves. Located beneath Brisbane’s iconic Story Bridge, Howard’s Hall is a glass fronted, industrial styled event space that can host up to 500 guests. Originally constructed in the 1930s, Howard Smith Wharves brings to life a historic space, right on the water. Just metres from the Brisbane River, Howard Smith Wharves provides an exciting riverfront event space a variety of corporate events, including meetings, conferences, gala dinners and exhibitions.
As the sun set and our guests arrived, we watched their excited faces in awe of the spellbinding views. Magenta lights glowed from the bridge and reflected on the water, as the warm Spring breeze blew across the water. Dazzling fire performers roved the pier, with flames that lit the night sky, wowing the crowd with spinning staff and fire breathing.
Guests walked a silky red carpet, lit either side with billowing fire lamps. As they sipped welcome champagne and ate delicious canapes, a scintillating fireworks display from a barge in the river boomed and popped, making sparking flowers in the night sky.
What an opening!
Inside Howard’s Hall a theatrical lighting display in hues of yellow, red and orange lit up the smoky haze floating in the air. (side note – I could lose myself for hours staring at light rays mix and mingle with that haze.) Flames flickered across a huge LED screen and Prodigy boomed throughout the space (guess which track). String curtains in gold, black and red were rigged from the ceiling to enhance the warm colour scheme.
Tables were dressed in midnight blue, with stylish black velvet chairs. Centrepieces reflected the fiery theme: rose coloured water with a submersible light and floating candle, coupled with geometric copper candle holders. In the dimly lit room, the table centres immediately drew the eye, creating pin pricks of light in this vast space.
I stood back and watched guests enter, and the energy and excitement was palpable. All of the elements that had been planned and considered for months came together perfectly, to create a wonderfully elevated experience that will live on in hearts and minds long after the ballroom doors close.
